Fast water carries everything.
Gold is heavy, but where the stream drops through the chutes it never gets the chance to settle.
Stones slow the current, and gold drops first.
Look behind the stones that break the surface. The water stands in waves there, and the gravel behind them holds colour.
Still water, the richest gravel.
Where the current dies, everything it carried comes to rest.
Where the stream turns, it leaves what it carried.
The inside of every bend is a gravel bar. Dig its upstream head.
The stream in your pocket.
